This volume finally brings the major Australian contribution to the fore. The dramatis personae could hardly be improved upon, including brilliant and imperious General Douglas MacArthur, audacious and profane Admiral William Bull Halsey, and bibulous and indelicate Australian General Thomas Blamey.
