Newcombe (1864 - 1945). 7.5" x 7" on off-white paper mounted in conservation board. Inscribed by the artist, "Wasperton". From a group of drawings undertaken for the iconic 'Shell Guides' edited by John Betjeman. Newcombe's pencil drawings also feature prominently in many of 'The Studio' and 'International Studio' publications of the 1920's and 1930's, including 'London Past And Present' (Studio 1916), 'Pictures Of London By Celebrated Artists' (Studio 1919) and the series entitled, "Leaves From The Sketch Book Of A.E. Newcombe".
