Couverture rigide. Condition: Très bon. Edition originale. - - - - Large in-8 ° bound, modern cardboard, title pasted on the first cover, 143 pages. "The inner ear has a very complex anatomical structure [i]. Also called a labyrinth, it is located in the rock and is made up of several main parts: the cochlea, the vestibule with the utricle and the saccule, the three semi canals. -circular (figure 12), the two aqueducts and the auditory nerve, made up of the cochlear nerve and the two vestibular nerves. The inner ear communicates with the interior of the skull through the internal auditory canal. It is made up of two structural parts: a protective "hard" bony part, called the bony labyrinth and a "soft", sensory part, called the membranous labyrinth. The bony labyrinth, or otic capsule, constitutes a shell of compact bone around the membranous labyrinth from which it is separated by so-called perilymphatic spaces containing a liquid called the perilymph. The membranous labyrinth is the set of cavities with a conjunctival-epithelial wall which supports the sensory elements of the ear i internal, fill them with another liquid called endolymph. All the structures of the inner ear thus have a bony part and a membranous part. This differentiation is not made in their specific description. The cochlea [ii], also commonly known as the snail, is the organ of hearing. It constitutes the previous labyrinth. It is shaped like a snail shell and has two and a half turns.
