Flint, born in Salem, Mass., a Harvard and M.I.T. graduate, was best known for his work on the meridian circle on the paralaxes of stars, also his contributions to the reobservation of the secondary stars in Auwer's catalogue and his participation in the determination of the latitude of the Princeton Observatory. In 1881 he was a computer in the Naval Observatory in Washington. He was the author of "Meridian Observations for Stellar Parallax." The other signatures, many names of old Salem families, are of Augusta Arrington, C. H. Hodgdon, William Proctor, J. McCallum, Henry M. Batchelder, George Dow, Charles W. Winn, E. S. Merrill, H.
