Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Wellington, Government Printer, 1884. Octavo, viii (last blank), 76 pages plus a frontispiece. Original stippled cloth lettered and decorated in blind; cloth sunned on the spine and a little unevenly discoloured around the edges; a very good copy (internally excellent). 'With a view to encouraging the more extensive culture of Citrus fruits in the northern portion of New Zealand, and of aiding planters with reliable information on the subject, the author of this book was empowered by the New Zealand Government to visit New South Wales in 1884, to personally inquire into and report upon the methods of cultivating the orange, as pursued there' (preface). The book contains much Australian material, a fact that appears to have been overlooked by the standard Australasian bibliographies.
