Soft cover. Condition: Fine. Paperback. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In English. [xv], 244 p. Conceptual and methodological issues in Islamic research: A few milestones. One of the great but self-imposed problems of the contemporary world is its self-created intellectual-riddle. It created the riddle through its own intellect and has engulfed itself in a weep of its problems to the very ore. The riddle was the 'research methodology' to study and under-stand man and his society, his attitudes and behavior; Nature, its structures and mechanisms and its ;relation with man and the world. The :total failure of this methodology is obvious in the multifarious problems the world is indulged in all fronts social, economic, political, scientific, technological etc. Having reached to the brink of a fatal fall now it cries for a new survival strategy! But is new strategy possible without new research me-thodology? At such a desperate scenario of the world a re-visit to the Islamic research methodology seems to be the only panacea. This book, Conceptual and Methodological Issues in Islamic Research: A Few Milestones, presents a few important milestone on the Islamic research methodology. The contemplations of some Muslim scholars on the various issues of the Islamic research are provided here to re-cast a continuum of one of the important Muslim debates of the contemporary times, particularly generated by the Movement of Islamization of knowledge. As a new research methodology based on Islamic perspective is indispensable to formulate a new survival strategy for the world, a revival of these pioneering reflections on the issue and their critical assessment is inevitable for the construction of the Islamic research methodology in contemporary times. Such a contemplative look into the recent history of Islamic thought on the issue of Islamic research would provide the world at large not only a mere model of its survival but also anintellectual renewal solving the intellectual riddle of our time.

Indian society is known for multi-religious and dual cultural existence for a long time Despite significant differences in the modes of worship and belief there are common linkages and threads that bind them Still for various reasons threads of bondage have become too loose and misunderstanding has taken deep roots Communal card has become the trump card of political parties well as some social groups Appeasement of religious community became the rule Communal considerations replaced communal harmony and hatred replaced love It is such a vicious context that the theme of the present story social Harmony an event is authored This is not just a fiction The story is based on one actual event that took place in Orissa That event was an RSS activist and a Muslim progressive thinker were too intimate friends Vikram Sinha and Rahman are the main characters They demonstrated through their behaviour that there is still a ray of hope that hatred can be replaced by love and suspicion by faith When Vikram was determined to bring up Rahmans child Nagina after the death of Rahmans and his wife Rahmat strictly according to Islamic culture and belief Sulaiman Rahmans brother played a dirty trick of promoting disharmony only to get his right over the child But his concealed intention was to get the property of Rahman But Vikram stood firm in keeping up his word to RahmanWhile Vikram gets the support of moulana and the police Sulaiman became a suspect and culprit in the eyes of these two persons jacket 153 pp.

Hardbound. Condition: As New. New. Contents Foreword. Preface. Acknowledgements. 1. Introduction. 2. Social development. 3. Economic development. 4. Summary conclusions recommendations. Index. This book Attainable Rural Development is based on the field work undertaken by Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ali Khan in ten villages of Devanahally Taluk which is located 30 miles away from Bangalore City. The author has introduced three stages of intervention. First stage reflects on the ground realities of the people and the places. The book points out very poor implementation of programmes of the state particularly for the development of Dalits backward classes and minorities. When once the bottle necks were identified the author started preparing projects appropriate to the areas of deficiencies and submitted to various funding agencies. With the assistance from Christian Children's Fund he started implementation of the programmes. Then he also took financial assistance from Canadian High Commission in India Netherlands Embassy South Asia Partnership Canadian International Development Agency and Water Aid London. The book throws light on the methods of approaches such as consultation with the people at every stage of implementation their involvement through discussions and demonstration. Women children and community were all the beneficiaries. A few cases of blind faith in maintaining cows and consequence losses are highlighted. The concept of Pressure group as propagated and demonstrated by the Nobel Peace Awardee Prof. Mohammed Yunus was experimented by the author of this book. Social concerns like co operation and sharing in distress live and let live are presented. The roles of the government vis a vis NGO demonstrate the failure of the government officials as against the success of the NGO. The failure is mostly due to indifference corrupt practices lack of monitoring and evaluation. A few important recommendations are offered for the benefit of all agencies interested in people's co operation in rural development. 182 pp.
