Walter Appleton Clark (illustrator). 22pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with 17 drawings including 4 full-page plates, shallow closed tear noted at top margins, not affecting text, salvaged from a damaged issue of Scribner's Magazine, Volume XXIV, No. 1, July, 1898. Illustrations include a view of Assembly Hall, the Candy Man, a house dance in the Gymnasium, the entrance to the Alumnae Gymnasium, Blue Prints, the interior of a girl's room, senior dramatics, impromptu theatricals in college parlors, the Botanical Ponds and Observatory, inside the Reading Room, a scene on Ivy Day, the tennis courts, and others of general interest. Housed in protective mylar report cover with spine sleeve.

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Clean and unmarked inside and out. Pages tanned with age. Both covers and all pages show a light crease in the lower right corner. Toning (age tanning) around the edges and spine of the magazine's exterior. A very nice copy. It will be backed with cardboard and carefully packed in a sturdy, flat box to ensure safe transit. Small splits neatly stuck at tail of spine, slight wear and tiny splits at head of spine, corners slightly rubbed, a horrid child has scraped the face of Towlocks on the upper cover with the point of a compass or some such (this plate repeated inside), neat inscription on blank leaf before half-title, contents otherwise bright and clean. A very good copy. First published in the Dumpy series by Grant Richards in 1903. When Grant Richards filed for bankruptcy in 1905, the publishing rights to the Dumpy books were sold to Chatto and Windus who reissued this title in their Sambo series, our title being No. 9.
