V., leichte Gbrsp., etw. angestaubt. - Favory (1889 - 1932), studierte an der Academie Julian, wo er die Bekanntschaft von Metzinger, Lhote und Marie Laurencin. Wie bei vielen Kubisten, hatte auch auf ihn Cezanne einen frühen und wichtigen Einfluß. Favory favorisierte einen kubistischen Stil in seiner frühen Malerei. Ab 1909 stellte er aus und seine Entscheidung 1913 sich ganz der Malerei zu widmen, wurde durch den ersten Weltkrieg unterbrochen. Er begann 1919 wieder auszustellen. Die gemachten Erfahrungen veränderten seine Malweise nachhaltig: er wurde farbiger in seiner Palette und seine Motive änderten sich: Badende, sowie Frauenkörper und Frauenporträts in einem fast sinnlichen Stil. Die wichtigsten Kunstkritiker seiner Zeit, wie Louis Vauxcelles, bezeichneten ihn als äußerst wichtigen Künstler, einen Meister seiner Zeit. Leider mußte er aufgrund einer Krankheit seine Malerei fünf Jahre vor seinem Tode aufgeben. (Zitat nach Galerie Papillon).
