Extra large format 14 in high x 11 inch wide. Considered the first detailed account of this interesting group of birds. A lovely copy. Near… fine in orig. green gilt cloth AND laid inside is the original double sided Rowland Ward promotional flyer for the book. Although the book shows no limitation, the prospectus states that this is a limited edition. It most likely was published in a small number. We have never seen a copy offered before with the prospectus (which also is in fine condition). Superb item for a collector. Frohawk, F W (illustrator).

A beautifully produced work on the various species of geese. The plates are especially fine to look at. Contains 24 color chromolithograph plates of geese and their bill…s by F.W. Frohawk and colored frontispiece by Dr. P.P. Sushkin. An English translation by John Marshall, M.A., of the author's first edition which was published in Russia in 1904. A very good copy, some of the gilt of the letters on the front cover rubbed. Foxing to prelims & a few plates not affecting image & final plate foxed.
