Softcover. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. John Cavanaugh (1921-1985) was an American sculptor whose work in hammered lead include several life-sized pieces. There are two long essays in this catalog: a Biography by Maren Strange and a biography of his work as an artist by Victoria Thorson. Illustrated with b&w photos as well as in four pages in full color. There is also a catalog of his works in the rear, which is partially illustrated, that includes descriptions, list of collections containing the works, as well as references. This catalog covers: The Ohio Period 1939-1956; New York Period 1957-1963; Washington Period 1964-1984. Contains sources & foot notes in the rear. There is no indication of the edition--it is presumed to be a first edition. Original publisher's black paper covers with white spine and cover lettering and color illustrations on the front wrapper. There is a three line stamp on the upper corner inside the front wrapper ("Removed from circulation."), else this is a clean, tight and unmarked book with no other internal or external markings, no bookplates or other defects. The covers are in nice conditon as well with no chips, tears or creases.
