Produced by John Wilson and Son's University Press in Cambridge, Massachusetts and printed on French-folded pages joined in tandem, now divided. Rubáiyát over unnumbered pages carrying the 101 quatrains of Edward FitzGerald's version enriched with lovely illustrations around the quatrains by Florence Lundborg, all of the other leaves have an elaborate border. Red and green printed title page. Rubáiyát over 159 pages carrying the 101 quatrains of Edward FitzGerald's version enriched with 12 full-page single-sided colour illustrations on coated art paper by Blanche MacManus, including tissue frontispiece. Two lengthy ink messages dated 1921 and 1944 to the front end sheet, page 158 with circular piece of paper missing to the fore edge when cut, not affecting any text, stains and marks to the covers. These illustrations are completely different to those which appear in the trade edition published by The De La More Press during the 1920's. Extremely rare edition of Rubáiyát. Member of the P.B.F.A. First edition thus hard back binding in publisher's original brown cloth covers, elaborate gilt design to the front cover, gilt lettering to the spine, top edge gilt, grape vine illustrated end sheets. The first printing was a folio, limited issue in 1884 of 100 copies signed by Vedder; followed by a trade edition in quarto in 1886. There were two issues of this 1894 printing; one in folio and this one in octavo measuring 8˝'' x 6ź''. Printed on French-folded pages joined in tandem. Rubáiyát over 23 pages carrying the 101 quatrains of Edward FitzGerald's version enriched with Elihu Vedder's dramatic drawings. Correct first edition of this issue with errata note tipped-in concerning Mr. Vedder's interpolated verse of his own (number 44). Exceptionally Fine condition. Member of the P.B.F.A.
