Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. OCLC lists 7 libraries worldwide that have it. Unusually attractive and clean copy. Un-deciphered inscription in blank inner margin of title page. Attractive recent full leather binding. 40 leaves. Steinschneider 5817/5, column 1393. Amram, page 333; STC page 932. In the introduction, the author,… R. Joshua Halevi, a native of Tlemcen (presently Algeria) bemoans his fate. Forced by persecution to leave his native land in 1467, he arrived in Toledo (Castile, Castilla). There he made the acquaintance of Don Vidal ibn Levi. The latter gentleman commissioned the present work to explicate Darkhei ha-Gemara (= the ways of the Talmud). The author goes on to express his gratitude to his teacher R. Jacob Hakoehn Ashkenazi, and his indebtedness to the earlier work in the filed by R. Samson of Chinon, Sepehr ha-Kerituth. Interestingly, the book enjoyed popularity among non-Jewish scholars, going through several Latin editions. See JE, Volume XII, pages 600-601.
