Illustrated with 17 full page engravings and a colored folding map of South Africa (see images), rebound in hunter green cloth with additional end papers, a nice tight copy, 414 pages and a page featuring similar books on African exploration published by Harpers. A scarce first edition from 1861, and a heavy volume.
