Hardcover. Condition: Gut. Ohne Schutzumschlag. 1. Auflage. 6 umfangreiche französische Typoskripte mit politischen und persönliches Betrachtungen eines Philosophen aus Paris während des 2. Weltkriegs. Verfasst von einem engen Freund des berühmten Philosophen Émile Chartier, genannt "Alain" (* 3. März 1868 in Mortagne-au-Perche, Normandie; 2. Juni 1951 in Le Vésinet bei Paris). Beim Verfasser handelt es sich um André Buffard (Pseudonym: André Laroque / La Roque) aus Paris. Er starb im Juli 1977; im "Bulletin de l'Association des Amis d'Alain" Nr. 44 (Dec. 1977) sind Nachrufe auf André Buffard sowie Briefe Alains an Buffard enthalten . Titel: "André La Roque: Reflexions d'un citoyen pendant la guerre." Seine Pariser Adresse ist auf jedem Band handschriftlich notiert, mit seinem bürgerlichen Namen André Buffard. Vorhanden sind die Bände 3 bis 9, datiert 7. Dezember 1939 bis 25. August 1946 (am Ende noch 6 Seiten von 1947-49). Umfang: ins. 1535 Seiten (196 + 250 + 259 + 253+ 250 + 252 + 75 einseitig beschriebene Bll.; teils Original-Typoskript, teils Durchschlag, oft handschriftlich korrigiert). Bei zwei Bänden gibt es ein maschinenschriftliches kurzes Register (bei beiden ist Alain verzeichnet), bei einem ein handschriftliches. Zusammen ergeben die Bände (Format 27,7 x 21,3 cm) einen Stapel von 16 cm Höhe; Gewicht ins. 5,8 kg. Er zitiert oft Zeitungsberichte und reflektiert darüber, berichtet aber auch von persönlich Gehörtem. Themen u.a.: oft das Hitler-Regime (auch: Juden, Konzentrationslager, Kommunisten), franz. Politik (auch: Vichy). Die Texte wurden aber tagesaktuell im 2. Weltkrieg verfasst; es handelt sich jedoch um eine maschinenschriftliche Abschrift aus den 50er Jahren aus seinen handschriftlichen Tagebüchern (einmal erscheint mitten im Text der Zwischentitel "cahier 5", also begann dort sein 5. Heft; einmal ist eine Nachbemerkung von 1959 in den Text einfügt). Zitate über den Verfasser André Buffard: -"Andre Buffard, a long time friend as well as former student of Alain." (Edward Joseph Pierce: War and the Citizen in the Works of Alain, 1974, Seite 38). -Selbstaussage im Interview: "Wenn man so viele Jahre in Alains lebendiger Gegenwart verbracht hat und in seinem Werk zu Hause ist, begreift man nur schwer, daß es nötig sein kann, ihn wie einen Unbekannten vorzustellen [.]" (Antares, Band 3, Seite 35). -"André Buffard, a non-anxious intellectual" (Australian Journal of French Studies, Band 8, 1971, S. 118). -Die Schriftstellerin Margaret Storm Jameson (1891-1986) berichtet in ihrer Autobiographie "Journey from the North", 1969, Vol. 1, über ihre Freundschaft mit André Buffard: "her [[sc. der Schriftstellerin Lilo Linke, die den September 1937 in Paris verbrachte]] closest friends, who became mine, were a lycée professor and his wife, Henriette and Andre Buffard. [.] the assured intelligence, the ease with with which ideas are passed from hand to hand, the inborn goodwill and politeness of heart are there, as if these were still the only criteria of civilization. And with them a play of light, a gaiety, a cutting edge [.]. . he has a wholly feline independence of spirit, a little savage. Add that he is - there is no English phrase for it - un coeur sensilbe, an almost reckless sensibility, passionate to a fault - and you have, crudely drawn, the portrait of a natural anarchist, incapadable of taking on trust an idea or a creed, instinctively mistrustful of received opinions, not because they vex him, but because they are hypocritical.
