La versión castellana es obra de Jesús Munárriz y pretende acercar a los niños españoles lo que el poeta escribió para los niños portugueses, adaptando detalles y conservando lo esencial, entre lo que se cuenta la música de los poemas. Beatriz Altheide, autora de las ilustraciones, cursó estudios de Bellas Artes.
