Paris, édition de la revue d optique théorique et instrumentale ,1935, in-8°, xvi-715 pp. , relié pleine percale bleue, illustré de 13 planches hors-texte,et de figures dans le texte. L ingéniosité d André Couder s appliqua non seulement à la réalisation de pièces et de combinaisons optiques de toutes sortes, mais aussi à la réduction des déformations des grands miroirs sous l effet de la pesanteur. Il étudia les flexions mécaniques des tubes de lunettes et télescopes et tenta de rendre aussi parfait que possible l intérieur de ceux-ci, notamment en créant des flux d air stables par l installation de ventilateurs à leur base. C est lui qui modifia les objectifs de l équatorial double utilisé par le groupe strasbourgeois (André Danjon, André Lallemand et Gilbert Rougier) lors de l expédition d éclipse à Poulo Condore (Indochine) en 1929. En 1933, c est à l objectif du grand réfracteur qu il s attaqua, améliorant considérablement son rendement. Il rédigea avec Danjon, devenu alors directeur de l Observatoire de Strasbourg, l ouvrage Lunettes et télescopes (1935) qui fut une référence pendant des décennies.
