Andreas Kobler (22. Juni 1816 in Mühldorf am Inn, Bayern 15. November 1892 in Klagenfurt) war ein katholischer Historiker. Er absolvierte sein Vorstudium in Landshut und studierte Theologie in München, wo Johann Adam Möhler und Joseph Görres in dem jungen Theologen offenbar seine Vorliebe für das Geschichtsstudium geweckt haben. Nach seiner Priesterweihe 1840 war er vier Jahre lang Vikar in der Mission, danach trat er in das Noviziat der Gesellschaft Jesu in Graz ein. Später wurde er aufgrund der Unruhen von 1848 in seinem Heimatland nach Amerika geschickt und war fünf Jahre lang der New Yorker Mission zugeteilt, wo er hauptsächlich als Professor für Mathematik tätig war. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Europa lehrte er bis 1857 in Pressburg, von wo er als Professor für Kirchengeschichte nach Innsbruck gesandt wurde. Er hatte diesen Lehrstuhl vierzehn Jahre lang inne und war von 1861 bis 1866 Rektor der Universität Innsbruck. 1871 wurde er erneut Professor für Mathematik in Linz und für zwei Jahre Rektor der dortigen Universität. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Innsbruck widmete er sich neun Jahre lang der Literatur und wurde 1887 zum Oberaufseher des Priesterseminars in Klagenfurt ernannt, wo er bis zu seinem Tod im Alter von 75 Jahren noch immer tatkräftig und aktiv als Kanzel wirkte.
