Old Mortality is one of the Waverley novels by Walter Scott. Set in south west Scotland, it forms, along with The Black Dwarf, the 1st series of his Tales of My Landlord (1816). The novel deals with the period of the Covenanters, featuring their victory at Loudoun Hill and their defeat at Bothwell Bridge, both in June 1679; a final section is set in 1689 at the time of the royalist defeat at Killiekrankie. A clean very presentable copy.

These 20 volumes with illustrations are an Edition de Luxe from the Hawarden Press, London, which is limited to 500 numbered copies of which this is number 303. The top edge is gilt.The edition The Antiquary has a loose title page. The Pirate is missing the title page. St.Ronan's Well has a few speckles/spots/discolorations front at the edge. Rob Roy has a discolored gutter as does Guy Manering which has not affected the inside printed pages. The volume, Quentin Durward , has the previous owner's gift inscription the covers 3/4 of the page and a discolored gutter. A few books have bumped spines. The publication dates are 1893 and 1894. No other markings were found. The books are good to very good. Shipping will be quoted at a later date. Photographs available upon request.
