Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. A major late 18th-century genealogical work by Andrew Stuart, addressing the lineage of the House of Stewart at a time when questions of descent carried real legal and social consequence. Condition; Contemporary full calf binding with gilt Greek key border, rubbed with age and showing surface wear and marks; spine worn but intact. Internally toned with occasional spotting and signs of use; remains structurally sound and a strong, presentable copy. Why This Matters; Genealogical works of this nature were not purely academic—they were instruments of influence, shaping claims to status, inheritance, and historical legitimacy. This volume represents the central argument in the Stewart lineage debate, making it a key text for collectors of British history and aristocratic genealogy. Offered by Atlas Rare Books, specialists in rare and antiquarian books.…
