Hardcover. Condition: Near fine. Dust Jacket Condition: fine. First Edition. Tall quarto, 150pp., illustrated. A crisp, clean copy, near fine, with a hint of mustiness, in a fine dust jacket. SIGNED by Andrews on the half title page: "Peace & Love - Bert Andrews." There is another inscription on the front free endpaper, which reads as follows, and appears to be in another hand, though the name looks quite a lot like "Bertie." That inscription reads: "Norman Dear [?] You would have liked each other. I know. Love always. Bertie [Bernie?]" Though a bit inscrutable and giving the impression of having been written after Andrews' death in 1993, the inscription seems to have been from someone close to the photographer. Andrews, who chronicled decades of Black theatre production in New York City, lost much of his archive in an office fire in 1985. Having reconstructed a significant portion of the lost material from salvageable negatives, Andrews was able to produce this book, and the rest of his archive is now housed at the Schomburg Center in New York.
