La raccolta di brani oggetto della presente edizione è stata pubblicata a Milano dall'editore Lucca intorno al 1880.

Il tutto entro bella legatura coeva in piena tela con titolo impresso in oro, entro cornice a secco. Un piccolo difetto al dorso con fessurazione nel margine basso della cerniera e nel complesso, esemplare in ottime condizioni di conservazione. Esemplare donato dall'autore ed appartenuto, come da fascetta nel margine basso del frontespizio, alla stessa dedicataria dell'opera che fu nota arpista milanese Carlotta Sormani-Moretti che fu prima arpa in numerose rappresentazioni operistiche della metà dell'ottocento. Prima edizione di questo "Capriccio" opera di uno dei più celebri arpisti ed insegnanti d'arpa europei dell'ottocento. Angelo Bovio (1824-1909) fu a lungo, insegnante di Arpa al Conservatorio di Milano e arpista al Teatro La Scala. Fra gli altri, fu insegnante di un altro celebre arpista, Luigi Maurizio Tedeschi (1867 1944). Lo stile del tutto personale nelle composizioni di Bovio si riflette, al massimo, nelle sue composizioni brevi, dove il gusto tardo-romantico dell'autore, riesce al meglio a trasparire dalla musica. Bovio fu conosciuto in tutta Europa, come uno dei massimi suonatori di arpa ed il suo servizio di insegnamento, venne richiesto da alcune delle più importanti famiglie nobili europee. Opera molto rara, appartenuta ad importante musicista e donata direttamente dall'autore.
