Hardcover has beige cloth-covered boards with red spine lettering and cover decorations. Hinges NOT cracked. Binding cracked inside rear free endpaper; webbing visible, but pages not loose. Corners and spine ends bumped. Quarter inch tear at the front edge of the head of the spine. Covers have light surface and edge wear. Spine and covers darkened; lettering faded. Name in ink on front free endpaper. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Pages clean and unmarked. 1540 numbered columns; 770 pages. No dust jacket. "Ca. 35,000 entries and 2,500 illustrations. 150 charts and maps in color. 50 statistical charts and tables in the text." Some maps are fold-outs. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
