Cloth. Condition: Good. Ann Projean (illustrator). A lovely 19th-century botanical journal filled out by one Ann Projean, with beautiful original illustrations in colour throughout. A most charming Victorian botanical guidebook, containing original coloured illustrations and hand-written notes on a variety of flowers, leaves and roots.Bound in a contemporary half cloth, with marbled boards. An absolutely unique work clearly carried out with care by the Ann Projean, of whom bears the opening page. Neatly inscribed with overviews of botanical terms and descriptions of the following:- Root Radix: illustrated in ten colour plates- Divisions of the Trunk: with eight leaves, five of which are illustrated in colour and two of which bears sketches- Division of Leaves: with six leaves, one of which is illustrated in colour and three of which bear sketches. With one page containing a real tipped-in extract taken from a Tropaeolum peregrinum.- Flowers are Divided into Eight Parts Namely: illustrated in ten colour plates, each containing numerous figuresWith three tipped-in title leaves. To the last seven pages is written 'The Fair Thief' by Charles Wyndham.Due to the personalised nature of the book, pages run inconsistently as expected, with some pages only bearing sketches or partly completed sections. There are however, for the most part, completed pages with presumably what are the finalised illustrations in colour. Bound in a contemporary half cloth, with marbled boards.Externally, with rubbing to the extremities and lifting to the head of back strip. Internally, generally firmly bound, with only one leaf from the 'Fair Thief' section detached but present. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional instance of offsetting and the occasional spot. Good. book.
