Hardcover. Condition: Poor. Anderson, Anne; Wright, Alan (illustrator). [1915]. [24] leaves, with 12 full page colour plates. In strong cloth-covered boards with tipped in illustration on front panel. Small 8vo. Covers heavily worn and faded with some marks, illustrated panel faded and chipped around edges. Front free endpaper absent, remaining endpapers tanned. Leaves show some signs of fingering and the reverse of one of the colour plates as a smudged and messy doodle/drawing. Colour plate illustrations are clean and bright and volume robustly bound. A very hard to find title, show-casing the period stylish illustrations of the husband and wife team of Alan Wright and Anne Anderson. Anne Anderson (1874-1952?) prolific, best known for her Art Nouveau children's book illustrations. Artist Alan Wright was also successful as an illustrator until he worked on a book for the vilified homosexual Baron Corvo in 1898. The scandal left him ostracized socially and professionally and subsequently much of his work was contributing to his wife's endeavours. This volume is in poor condition only. We would not normally offer books in this condition but it is a very hard to find title, and the illustrations - its chief attractive, remain bright and clean - so the volume may serve to fill a gap in a collection until a better copy can be sourced and afforded.
