Este libro fue leido y consultado ampliamente por los cristianos del primer siglo, lo vemos al ser citado en por lo menos dos pasajes de la Biblia: Judas 6, 14 y 15; y 2 Pedro 2:4. El Libro de Enoc o Libro de Enoch, relata entre otros temas, la misteriosa narracion de la rebelion de los angeles llamados "Vigilantes" u "Observadores" al tomar mujeres de la tierra y tener hijos con ellas, ademas les ensenaron los secretos y misterios de los cielos; de este modo, el libro revela la existencia de unos angeles observadores sobre la tierra. El libro de Enoch tambien ensena que estos angeles ensenaron a los seres humanos los poderes de las plantas y sus raices, de los metales y sus virtudes, los secretos de las estrellas y sus orbitas, asi como el arte de las armas, entre otras cosas. Ademas revela que hay angeles encargados de administrar los vientos, el mar, el granizo, la escharcha, el rocio, los truenos y relampagos, entre otras cosas. Con el hallazgo de los rollos de Qumran, se identifico que el Libro de Enoch, no era en realidad un solo libro, sino cinco textos: Los Vigilantes, Las Parabolas, Libro Astronomico, Los Suenos y Cartas de Enoc.
