Very large bookplate of the Scottish connoisseur and book collector Sir William Stirling Maxwell (1818-1878) on front pastedown. Front board reattached, spine hinges scuffed, scattered light foxing. Plates include historical scenes, a view of Zwingli's birthplace, a very pretty low bird's-eye view of the Grossmünsterkirche and surroundings in Zwingli's day, a page of medallic art (Denkmünzen) devoted to Zwingli, and a facsimile of his handwriting. No author is given; the attributions above are taken from library listings, which differ in their opinion.
