Sixth plate daguerreotype with applied colour, 80 x 70 mm (sight), in a nonpareil brass mat stamped 'Anson / Broadway', ormolu preserver; housed in a leather case with geometric and scrolling vine motif, the front with partially remnant early paper label with the name '[A]dams' in manuscript; the case has a working clasp, and the red velvet lining has the raised imprint of 'ANSON, 589 Broadway, N.Y.'; the daguerreotype has a tarnish halo but is otherwise in fine condition, as is the case.

The sitter appears to be the same young woman from the Adams family who appears in mourning dress in another Rufus Anson daguerreotype we have listed (#43391).
