Het eerste deel wordt gevuld met wat als zijn belangrijkste werk wordt beschouwd, het stroomdicht 'De Ystroom' (1671), een loflied in Vondeliaanse verzen op Amsterdam en op de bloeiende handel en scheepvaart van de Republiek; onder de drempelverzen is er ook een van Vondel, die Antonides als de meest getalenteerde van de jonge dichtersgeneratie beschouwde. Het dichtstuk is geïllustreerd met 5 fraaie, paginagrote etsen van Romeyn de Hooghe. De plaat die bij het treurspel 'Trazil' is geplaatst (een jeugdwerk van Antonides) staat daar geheel ten onrechte. Te zien is hoe Apollo de sater Marsyas die zich met de god der dichters had durven meten voor straf levend vilt; de plaat hoort dus bij het uiterst venijnige hekeldicht 'Marsyas, satyr' dat gericht is tegen de leden van het kunstgenootschap 'Nil Volentibus Arduum' en vooral tegen hun voorman Andries Pels (!). Achter 'Trazil' volgen een levensbericht van de dichter en een aantal lijk- en grafdichten. RdH020.

In 1714, toen de derde druk van 'Alle de gedichten' bij Nicolaas ten Hoorn verscheen (zie nr 16), werden weer de originele etsen door De Hooghe gebruikt, echter wel opgegraveerd.
