Fraai exemplaar van drie zeldzame werken van Antonius Driessen, 1684-1748. Hij was hoogleraar aan de theologische faculteit te Groningen. Hij schreef o.a. een verklaring over de Openbaringen aan Johannes en is mede bekend doordat hij o.a. de leermeester van Alexander Comrie en Wilhelmus Schortinghuis is geweest. Bekend is de passage uit de catechismusverklaring van Comrie, waarin staat dat Driessen soms door zulke zware zielsangsten werd gekweld dat het leek alsof hij in de diepten der hel verkeerde. Dan kroop hij als een worm over de grond en riep hij uit: "O God! Is er nog een weg van ontkoming, maak hem mij bekend!". Comrie maakte dit mee in zijn studententijd, toen Driessen al vele jaren als hoogleraar -in de praktische theologie- werkzaam was!
