Hardback large quarto, dustjacket, very good condition (in very good dustjacket), black & white text-photos, minor edgewear, postage stamps, rubber stamps. 114 pp. The story of the historic General Post Office (GPO) building, Sydney, facing Martin Place. This building was the largest and most extravagant to have been built by an Australian architect at the time, and is considered to be the finest work of colonial architect James Barnet. Australia Post is spending $40 million to restore this historic building to celebrate the Australian Bicentenary in 1988. (As issued: A row of 5 x 37c stamps is pasted on the prelim page, together with three first-day post office rubber stamps.).
