Contact seller5-star sellerTen vols. 8vo. 208; 208; 208; 211, [1]; 210; 210; 214; 214; 214; 214 pp. Frontisp., numerous text illustrations. Blue tweed boards, blue lettering (minor shelfwear, rubbing, occasional wear to corners), w/ d.j.'s cover art by Kaye (occasional chipping to spines, minor creasing, edgewear), still a VG/VG bright uniform set. First…editions, early printings of Nos. 1-10 in the New Tom Swift, Jr. science fiction series, listing to most frequently to No. 13 Solartron on versos of half-title, whereas most ads on back covers, list up to No. 12, with Cycloplane listing uniformly to itself, and first three only listing up to 5 titles. Harriet Adams re-launched the Tom Swift concept in 1954, based on the original series co-written by her father Edward Stratemeyer, and Howard Garis. Although she was heavily involved in rewriting the Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys titles removing some of the more offensive racial overtones of the original printings, they launched an entirely new science fiction series, drawing on three PhD scientific consultants, sparking the imaginations and efforts of Steve Wozniak of Apple Computer, Jack Cover who invented the Taser, and resonating with Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asimov.
