Diese ausführliche Einleitung wird zur gediegenen Auskunft, die vieles überholt, was bisher über Apponius gesagt wurde; sie wird der Ausgangspunkt für alle weitere Erörterung der Apponius-Frage bleiben. (?) Die ausführliche Inhaltsangabe, die die Theologie des Apponius erschließt, verdient alle Anerkennung. Grundlegendes zur exegetischen Methode, die vom mehrfachem Schriftsinn ausgeht, wird da gesagt. Dann werden die zentralen Gedanken dieser Schrifttheologie knapp dargelegt. (?) es konnte eine zuverlässige Edition vorgelegt werden. (?) Die eigenwillige Einteilung des Hoheliedes in 150 Verse durch Apponius (Angleichung an das Psalterium) ist am Rande vermerkt. Die ungefüge Bucheinteilung ist durch Paragraphen gegliedert. Bibelzitate sind genau registriert (?). Die neue Edition dieses lateinischen Hoheliedkommentars dürfte lebhaftes Interesse auf Apponius lenken. (K. SUSO FRANK in Vigiliae Christiane, 1989, pp.92-95).
