Georgy Konstantinovich Savitsky (1887 - 1949), trained by his father, the acclaimed artist and academician K. A. Savitsky, excelled at the Penza Art School and later at the Academy of Fine Arts. His academic achievements culminated in his celebrated work, "Death of Priam" (1915), earning him an artist's title and a travel grant. Initially captivated by equine studies, many of which reside in the state horse breeding museum, Savitsky's predominant focus shifted to the historico-revolutionary genre, marked by its elaborate style and dramatic narratives. His significant work, "Assault of Perekop," exemplifies his mastery in portraying the tumultuous historical events of his era, securing his place as a pivotal figure in Russian art.
