Dieses will weder Rechenschaftsbericht noch Kunstführer sein, sondern vom heutigen Sinn und Wesen des Berner Heimatschutzes, vor allem von der Arbeit seiner Bauberatung berichten. Stadt und Land haben sich in den letzten Jahren der Hochkonjunktur entscheidend verändert. Die stürmische Entwicklung im Baugeschehen hat vielerorts die Schranken von Massstab und Ordnung durchbrochen. In unsern Nachbarländern ist das alte, gewachsene Bild ganzer Stadtteile nach den Zerstörungen des letzten Krieges mit ungeheurem Aufwand wiederhergestellt worden.
