Los reinos cristianos peninsulares, con todas sus singularidades, no escaparon a semejante dinámica, en un complejo conjunto de procesos sociopolíticos, militares, económicos e ideológicos que sembrarían la semilla de la futura primacía de las armas hispánicas en el contexto europeo occidental, y de su proyección al Nuevo Mundo en los primeros siglos de la Edad Moderna. Entre los siglos XIV y XV, las estructuras que configuraban el orden feudal en la Península se resquebrajaron, presionadas tanto por problemas intestinos, como por el ascenso de las élites urbanas y la paulatina búsqueda de los soberanos de modelos centralizados de gobierno y, por lo tanto, de control de los ejércitos. Las fuerzas armadas y el ejercicio del mando cambiarían radicalmente, en una paulatina adaptación a todas estas circunstancias y a los retos exigidos por las distintas contiendas que los poderes peninsulares hubieran de librar, tanto sobre la piel de toro como en ámbitos extrapeninsulares, como ilustra la proyección mediterránea de la Corona de Aragón. Asistimos, así, a una progresiva profesionalización de las huestes y de su organización, en tanto nuevas tácticas irrumpían al olor de la pólvora, entre otras innovaciones. Paralelamente, tanto la alta como la baja aristocracia se vincularon cada vez más al poder real no sin resistencia, hasta convertirse en una suerte de improvisado Estado Mayorö a disposición de los soberanos. El viejo modo feudal de hacer la guerra dio sus últimos coletazos durante la Guerra de Granada, simbólico fin de una era. La guida può avere importanza in quanto l'hanno di due estensori: Nereo Alfieri, (1914 1995) già docente di Topografia antica… presso l'Università di Bologna, il quale si è illustrato per tante importanti ricerche nel campo dell'archeologia e della topografia antica. Tra esse vanno ricordate le scoperte di Spina. E Paolo Enrico Arias (1907 1998) che fu assistente di Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli e di Alessandro Della Seta nella Scuola Archeologica Italiana di Atene. Sovrintendente alle Belle Arti a Reggio Calabria, docente nell'Università di Catania, poi all'Università di Messina e all'Università di Bologna, dove fu anche sovrintendente. Dal 1961 al 1977 insegnò Archeologia e Storia dell'arte greco-romana nell'Università di Pisa e dal 1962 anche alla Normale, dove nel 1966 fondò la Scuola speciale per archeologi. Dal 1990 fu socio nazionale dell'Accademia dei Lincei. Diresse scavi a Lemno, Locri Epizefiri, Marzabotto, Medma, San Godenzo, Sovana e a Spina. Esemplare con sottolineature e annotazioni a penna.
