Spine has one paper label of the same color and the remnant of one green paper label with only the letter "e" remaining; significant material loss to tail, exposing the quires below, material loss to head exposing half of quires, and other smaller areas of exposed quires; and significant wear, toning, and cracking to remaining paper. Boards are heavily darkened from soiling and have significant scuffing throughout, have heavy bumping to fore corners, and exposed board along the length of the edges; rear board has upper corner bumped off. Text block has soiling to edges and heavy dust soiling to top edge, and top edges of some signatures uncut; a Richmond Physical Society book plate to front pastedown, penciling to bottom of front free endpaper, creasing to some corners, and age-toning, light scuffing, and splitting to gutters throughout. Medico-Chirurgical Transactions (published 1809-1907) was one of the premier British medical publications of the 19th century, serving as a primary avenue for presenting pioneering clinical research, surgical procedures, and pathological findings.
