Huge folio (13 x 17 inches) suite of ten superbly colored full-page illustrations loose, as issued, and a full-color illustrated title-page by noted French illustrator Guy Arnoux. Original color pictorial folding covers with ribbon ties. Limited to 475 numbered copies (#218), printe…d on laid paper, watermarked. Each plate in very good condition, but contains remnants of plastic tape on verso of image not affecting images. Some minor marginal tearing of fragile paper. Binding spine sl. frayed and covers a little soiled. A remarkable survival. Printed on handmade paper watermarked, "Ingres, 1871." Exceedingly scarce and desirable graphic art by this exemplary French artist.
