Nov. 1865, studierte daselbst und in Berlin, promovierte 1886, war bereits als Student Assistent von Ehrlich, unter dessen Leitung er seine Diss.: "Über peripherische und centrale Nervenendigunge" unter Benutzung der eben entdeckten Methylenblaumethode machte. 1890 bis 91 war er Assistent an dem k. k. Friedr.-Kinderkrankenhaus (A. Baginsky) und seit 1892 ist er Arzt in Charlottenburg, seit 1893 Leiter der bakteriol. Abt. der chem. Fabrik a. A. von Schering, speziell mit der Darstellung des Diphtherie-Antitoxin betraut, auf das sich auch zahlreiche Publikationen A.'s beziehen. Andere Arbeiten A.'s betreffen die desinfizierende Wirkung des Formalephyds (1892 und 97), Apnoe bei Kaltblütern und neugeborenen Säugetieren, Wirkungsweise saurer Antifebrin- und Thenacetinderivate, Färbung des Nervensystems etc." Julius Pagel, Bogr.
