A fine and original hand-colored example of Artaria & Comp.'s celebrated cartographic work, documenting this region of Germany with the precision and decorative artistry characteristic of the 17900s. Artaria & Comp. was a cartographer active in the 1700s, working in the tradition of European copper-engraved cartography. Their maps are valued by collectors for their historical accuracy and decorative quality.This plate presents a original copperplate engraving, with original hand coloring depicting the city of Ansicht der Churkölnischen Residenz-Stadt Bonn, published in Wien, Artaria & Comp., 1798. Such topographic views from Artaria & Comp.'s workshop are primary historical documents of German urban history in the 1700s, now prized equally by historians, map collectors, and interior decorators. Postl after a sketch by Lorenz Jantscha. Printed on handmade paper, with watermark,van Gelder Zonen'. In very good to excellent condition, the the paper slightly browned or toned. 281 by 426mm (11 by 16¾ inches).
