Barnes has been characterized over the years as 'the last of the universal scholars' and 'the grand monarch of the anti-liars of the twentieth century.'" - dust jacket. lxxxvi, 884 pp. Numerous black and white photographic plates. Personalia and Bibliography. Details of Contributors. Index. Moderate wear. Former library copy with usual markings. Dust jacket preserved in glossy new archival Brodart.
