Small octavo (approx. 5 3/8" wide by 7 1/2" tall), pictorial cloth covers. v [1] 1 - 170 pages. Many illustrations in black and white throughout. Early methods of travel including horses (saddle horses, Pony Expres…s, pack horses and pack trains, stage coaching, covered wagons, jerk-rein freight team, horse boats, horse cars, cow pony, draft horses, war horses, fire horses), mules, donkeys, oxen, camels, reindeer, and dogs. Very light cover soil, still very good. No dust jacket. No names or writing in book. The introduction states "the book will be admirable for social science classes in the upper grades of elementary school and in the junior high school.and adults young and old will enjoy it." The author worked as a dog freighter during the gold rush to the Klondike in 1898. On Admiral Byrd's first expedition Treadwell was accompanied by the famous Chinook. Studio. Murch, Frank J.
