From 1898 until his death in 1927, Atget made approximately 5,000 negatives of the city, systematically documenting its historic core of buildings and monuments. Featuring some 240 of Atget's vast archive of photographs, this book examines Atget's approach to photography by studying these sequences: his pictures of an individual building,a street, an intersection, the quays along the Seine, & a neighborhood. These images, assembled into coherent groups, display the direct & integral relationship between Atget's working method & his subject matter. B&W photos. 200p.
