Under the command of his distinguished cousin and intimate friend, Gen. Nathanael Greene. Best known for leading the spirited defense of Fort Mercer in the 1777 Battle of Red Bank, and for leading the African American 1st Rhode Island Regiment during the Revolutionary War, Mouunted in an early American period frame with basket weave design and contemporary nials and wood board backing. Matting heavily toned and print less so .

Spine notched (where once bound), title page has light foxing and early soiling, with few short tears and creases, an untrimmed copy with generous margins (measuring 20.3 cm by 16 cm), first five leaves have a narrow (early) stain along blank (fore-edge) margin, else a very good copy, with rest of text quite fresh and clean.
