The covers look good with minor wear on the faces and around the edges and the covers feature an old coin. The spine is tight with minor wear and no obvious creases on the outer spine. The pages are just starting to turn a light shade of tan and have little wear and no marks except for a line across the bottom of the pages. 359 pages with an index.

But, as Professor Aubert points out, doctrinal legal research is concerned with how the law ought to operate, the sociology of law with why it operates in the way it does. Clearly the findings of the latter process are highly relevant to the proper functioning of the former. In his five-part anthology, Professor Aubert looks at law as a product of a social system and as an instrument of social change, at conflict resolution and decision making in the courts, and finally at the legal profession itself.
