Previous owner has impressed (blind-stamped) "FITCHPATRICK'S" lettering on the rear board. Pencil notation "$15.99" and small "Ren" oval stamp at half-title (previous-shop markings). Made in the United States of America. Aubry (1881-1946) was a popular French historian whose Napoleonic biographies sold widely on both sides of the Atlantic in the 1930s. Boards clean, gilt bright, binding tight.
