In addition to Audi models, the collection features now-defunct brands like Horch, DKW, NSU, Wanderer, and Auto Union, ancestors of the modern Audi. With this beautifully illustrated book, Audi AG opens its hall doors for the first time and lets you view the fascinating range of its brand history, from the first Horch to the Sport quattro prototype. This volume includes more than 400 images, including new photos commissioned by Audi Tradition and shot by expert automotive photographer Stefan Warner. Also included are vintage photos and artwork from the brand's archive. All of these photos are accompanied by information and essays of the collection's vehicles, providing sharp insight into the history of Audi and its predecessors. AUTHORS: Audi Tradition, an Audi AG department, focuses on preserving and showcasing the brand's rich history, including its predecessor brands, through events, exhibitions, and online resources, as well as offering services for owners of older Audi models. Ralf Friese is a renowned Audi historian and author. His previous books include Four Rings: The Audi Story, Auto Union DKW, and Audi Typenkunde: Audi 100 to Audi R8, among others. Stefan Warter studied photo/film design at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and is a freelance photographer. Gli anelli stavano a rappresentare l'indissolubile legame tra i marchi delle quattro case automobilistiche della Sassonia, Audi, DKW, Horch e Wanderer, confluite nella nuova azienda. I quattro anelli fondevano tradizioni pluridecennali che insieme avrebbero determinato il futuro dell'automobile. Ancora oggi, essi esprimono da un lato il forte legame con la tradizione, dall'altro la passione per la ricerca e l'innovazione della AUDI AG. La storia della Audi comincia con August Horch, suo fondatore e pioniere dell'industria automobilistica, che come pochi altri contribui a trasformare le carrozze a motore dei primordi in splendide vetture di grande utilità pratica. I quattro anelli simboleggiano al contempo la più vasta varietà di modelli mai proposta da produttori tedeschi, dalle moto leggere alle auto di lusso, ma anche, date le complesse vicende alle origini dell'azienda, la più singolare storia imprenditoriale dell'industria automobilistica tedesca. Le fondamenta su cui era stata edificata la Auto Union AG erano talmente solide che, anche dopo lo scioglimento del 1945, fu possibile ricostituire l'azienda, questa volta a Ingolstadt. La Auto Union e la DKW erano più vive che mai. Nei decenni successivi i quattro anelli divennero i garanti di una straordinaria ricchezza tecnica: il motore a due tempi, prima di tramontare, visse un ultimo momento di gloria e le moto DKW tornarono a essere le regine del mercato, mentre le nuove vetture vennero accolte con crescente entusiasmo.
