20 1/2 x 19 1/4 inches. This is a pocket map by Chevalier issued in the year of the Panama Pacifici International Exhibition that was held in San Francisco and San Diego. The map shows the grounds in a pictorial manner. This map is essential a foundation map. It provides a plethora of information about the city and its transportation. Thin red lines perfectly centered in the stores the car lines and their directions of travel. The Bay is populated by the piers of commerce. labeled and some numbered. Their are also listed across the bottom, outside of the neatline, in six columns, places of interest. From the Pacific Ocean, on the left, to the Bay on the right is a landmass which has the street grid superimposed to create a concise descriptive message of the settlement at San Francisco. The underlying topography is place to yield a dimensional appearance seldom found in street maps. Chevalier's larger bigger scale wall maps is here condensed into a hand folded pocket map of considet=rable utility to the owner. The map more than serves its purpose as a usable tool for getting about the city. The OCLC search for the up to date map yielded only two locations; University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and the California historical Society. One other copy was sold by Geographicus who commented that he was aware of only one other time this map appeared on the market. This map is rare in its present edition and scare in other editions on this scale. Very good condition with sonme separations at the folds and fold junctions from light use. Two repaired tears one for fold separation the other into the map two inches not affecting the printed surface.
