Friedrich zu Eulenburg (1815-1881), Sohn Friedrich Leopold zu Eulenburgs auf Perkuiken (Ostpreußen) und der Amalie von Kleist, war nach Studium der Rechts- und Staatswissenschaften in zahlreichen öffentlichen Ämtern tätig, ab 1850 vom König zum Regierungsrat ernannt, Generalkonsul in Antwerpen und Warschau, ab 1859 als Gesandter und bevollmächtigter Minister erfolgreich an der Spitze der Preußischen Ostasienexpedition, mit der sich Japan und China erstmals dem Westen öffneten, von 1862 bis 1878 Innenminister Preußens auf Betreiben Bismarcks, der ihn als "die fähigste und schlagfertigste Kraft" der Preußischen Elite empfahl. August von der Heydt (1801-1874), führte mit seinen Brüdern das berühmte Bankgeschäft seines Vaters in Elberfeld fort, war nach 1841 als Abgeordneter im Provinziallandtag der Rheinprovinz und später auch im Vereinigten Landtag und in der Nationalversammlung engagiert, nach der deutschen Revolution 1848 in verschiedenen Regierungen als Minister vertreten, 1866 gelang ihm als Finanzminister das Kunststück, den Preußischen Feldzug gegen Österreich und andere Staaten ohne neue Staatsschulden zu finanzieren, 1869 Rücktritt und höchste staatliche Auszeichnungen, nachdem Reichstag und Landtag seine geplanten Steuererhöhungen abgelehnt hatten, 1867 bis 1870 fraktionsloses Mitglied des Reichstages des Norddeutschen Bundes, einer der bedeutendsten Förderer und Finanziers der Industrialisierung, insbesondere des Eisenbahnbaus in Deutschland. 2100 gr.
