Très rare petit ouvrage technique illustré, qui présente, après un bref historique soulignant le rôle de Niepce et Daguerre, les procédés au bromure d'argent et au collodion, le matériel et les produits nécessaires au tirage, au virage et au fixage des clichés, puis le tirage au charbon. Orné de figures in texte. Un manque angulaire en tête de la couverture recto (par ailleurs marquée par des taches et une abrasion au niveau du titre) et de la page de faux-titre, quelques rousseurs et une petite mouillure marginale sans gravité sur les derniers feuillets, sinon bon exemplaire de cet opuscules de toute rareté. L'auteur de ce manuel pratique à l'usage des photographes amateurs ou "photographes touristes" n'est autre que l'un des fils de Pierre Petit (1831-1909), célèbre élève de Disdéri. Outre son abondante production de portraits photographiques au format carte de visite inventées par son mentor, Pierre Petit s'est rendu célèbre notamment en tant que photographe de la Commune, des Expositions universelles parisiennes (1867, 1878, 1889 et 1900), de la statue de la Liberté en pleine construction dans l'atelier de Bartholdi ou encore de ses travaux pour différentes institutions officielles. A sa mort, ses fils ont maintenu l'activité de son studio, partagée entre reportages (sur les inondations de 1909-1910, par exemple) et portraits individuels ou collectifs (photographies de classes de lycées).…
