Augustin Marlorat (1506-1563) was a French Protestant divine during the French wars of religion. Marlorat began his religious life with the Augustinian friars, but was offended by their licentiousness. Around 1540 he left the Roman Catholic church and fled to Switzerland. He served as a corrector of the press at Geneva and became an important Protestant pastor. After the fall of Rouen (1562), Marlorat was imprisoned and executed for treason by Charles IX. He was charged for being a "seducer of the people" and hanged in front of the church in which he preached. See Chalmers. The first edition of Marlorat's Novi Testamenti was published in 1561. This is the fourth edition. This work was also translated into English in 1575. An early Huguenot commentary on the New Testiment, specifically on the Gospel of John. New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge, p. 186. Augustin advocated an evangelical Calvanist theology. This is an oversized or heavy book, that requires additional postage for international delivery outside the US.
